  • My husband tried them with no luck after trying the man shake – much more sugar. Said it tasted like a milkshake

  • They’re ok for quick weight loss, if you can resist the temptation of snacking. But for long term maintenance, not that great. Short term, ok, long term nah

  • Just focus on whole foods because that’s more sustainable than shakes

  • I haven’t used them, maybe one day I might consider.

  • I’ve had friends use them and have lost weight on them initially but it quickly lead to yoyo dieting. They felt super hungry from the liquid meal and then ate more laster to feel full. So it ultimately lead to weight gain.

  • The only diet shake that is recommended by dietitians is Optifast as it is nutritionally balanced but the “celebrity” versions have questionable nutrition and a lot of sugar

  • I’ve used shakes before and I found they did work but slowly. They just help to make you feel full so you don’t want to eat anything. You still need to eat healthy though.

  • I have never tried Slim Shakes so I wouldn’t mind knowing the answer to this question. But I like my food too much and think it probably would be a sustainable way to lose weight.

  • No never used them and never will ! Personally I don’t think it’s wise to loose weight with shakes, it’s not food it’s “poison” and you can’t use them in the long term. Better find a healthy way of eating in combination with exercise. A healthy way of living can last long term and you’ll probably feel good and motivated by the effct

  • Personally I’ve found fasting to be waaay more effective for losing weight, keeping it off (noting that while it might look like you lose 1kg a day that’s mostly water and no longer having food in your digestive tract, you really lose about 200-250g fat per day), and not impacting on my muscle mass. Plus you don’t have to count calories. The first couple of days are hardest but after that gets heaps better and when you’re running off the ketones you feel fantastic. It’s not for everyone (ie not if your breastfeeding, pregnant obviously, underweight, certain health conditions etc). I’m fit and healthy (but overweight, previously was just over a BMI 30) so it has worked for me. Dr Jason Fung’s info is the best place to go for more info if you’re interested inc his book “The complete guide to fasting”

  • Have a look at the sugar content. They can be very very high. Shakes can be good when you are busy and overwhelmed and food choices become not so great. I would advise if you are looking at doing a shake program get yourself a high quality protein power with a fat burner in it instead and design your own low carb program. High quality proteins won’t come with the sugar or fillers in the weight loss satchels and it will be much cheaper. True Protein is a good brand that I like.

  • No they are not healthy, and not advisable for long term so you will end up nowhere. Try replacing high fat high calorie foods such as meat, dairy, eggs and white refined carbs with low fat, low calorie foods such as wholefood carbs, fruit and veggies. Check out forks over knives website.

  • They are very unhealthy and should not be used long term. Why not just replace your high calorie foods like meat, dairy, eggs and white refined carbs with low calorie foods like fruit and veggies, include lots of raw food which will fill you up. Check out the website forksoverknives.com.

  • I never tried these and would prefer to make it myself so I know what exactly is inside.

  • I don’t think there the best idea. GP consults and a dietitian are very useful to start a new routine. They have been for me. Good luck.
