  • I tried the rice thing when my phone was drenched in the rain and it doesn’t work, it just got dusty. You need to pull it all apart to let the parts dry. Not sure about acetone though but I would imagine that you would want to separate everything and wipe as much off as possible?

  • Oh no… that doesn’t sound good. I tried rice when I dropped my phone in a pond but it didn’t work. Good luck.

  • It works really well for water! Not sure how acetone would go, might have started to eat the insides away! There are a couple of white dots inside the phone (if you access it) that turn red when the inside of the phone has been wet. Might be worth having a look to see if they still exist, if not the acetone might be eating into other things in the phone.

  • It works for water damage (usually), but I don’t know about acetone.

  • It has worked for me in the past with water (not chemicals). My view – can’t hurt to give it a go…

  • Being a chemicalxi don’t think it would work. The acetone might eat away at some parts of your phone. The rice method with only work with water, as long as you pull the phone apart first

  • It works to help absorb water fir when you drop it in the toilet, acetone is a chemical, totally a different kettle if fish

  • I have heard if your phone gets wet, you should place it in uncooked rice for a while to absorb excess water. I don’t think it will help if you’ve spilt acetone on your phone though as that’s a chemical, it would do different damage to water

  • I have never heard of this method !

  • From memory Acetone is sticky, pretty powerful and the chemical used to remove it would not be good for your phone either.

  • I found it has worked in the past for water. Leave it off and put it in rice for at least a day, maybe 2. Not sure about acetone!

  • I’ve been told it does work but I have never tried it myself

  • I’ve heard it does, but never has for me. Think it’s different for water and acetone tho.

  • No the rice method did not work for my phone when it dropped in the bath

  • my phone fell into the dogs bucket of water from the shelf, I put it straight in the rice and rice got stuck in the charger hole hahaha
