  • From memory Acetone is sticky, pretty powerful and the chemical used to remove it would not be good for your phone either.

  • I found it has worked in the past for water. Leave it off and put it in rice for at least a day, maybe 2. Not sure about acetone!

  • I’ve been told it does work but I have never tried it myself

  • I’ve heard it does, but never has for me. Think it’s different for water and acetone tho.

  • No the rice method did not work for my phone when it dropped in the bath

  • my phone fell into the dogs bucket of water from the shelf, I put it straight in the rice and rice got stuck in the charger hole hahaha

  • Oh dear…not sure it will work with acetone as that will eat through the phone?! Good luck

  • With water, to some degree yes, but acetone….probably not. god luck

  • I think it helps with water….don’t think acetone would be the same it might dry up moisture but acetone would possibly be corrosive

  • This worked with me with water, but maybe get advice from an IT store about this particular spill.

  • I have used this method with a water spill only.

  • What saves the phone is no moisture in it while it is on. So the rice method works with water when phone is turned off and all moisture absorbed.

With acetone, if it’s superficial, it will evaporate away before it can do damage. However, if it has penetrated through, then it might do more damage than just the moisture alone. Acetone evaporates quickly exposed to air, so opening the phone up might be better than rice.

  • Water-yes…not sure about acetone.

  • I have had success once drying out a phone which had some water in it
Acetone – unfortunately you might be out of luck as it will probably eat away at the insides!
