A friend said her teeth are stained due to excessive fluoride. We use milk teeth toothpaste for our toddler but she loves the taste of it and won’t spit it out. Now I’m worried we could be caising damage to her teeth. Has anyone experienced fluoride stains or had advice from the dentist regarding children’s teeth?

  • I think children’s toothpaste is less toxic than regular as there is a high chance that they won’t spit it out until they learn to.

  • As far as I know fluoride does not stain teeth and in fact dentists are now recommending that after you brush your teeth you spit out as much as possible but don’t rinse as the small residue that remains in your mouth is good for your teeth.

  • I’ve never heard of fluoride stains on your teeth. As far as I know, flouride is a good thing for your teeth, one of the main building blocks required fir healthy teeth. I’ve just been to the dentist where he cleaned my teeth and then applied flouride

  • i thought that it (fluoride) was supposed to be good for your teeth. don’t stress about the toothpaste especially milk teeth brand. They are designed with the fact that kids are using it. Not supposed to use a lot of mainstream stuff for the littlies though like colgate

  • I wonder who told her that?? Was it a professional?? I know before Fluoride was added to our water in significent one of our Dentists frecommended Fluoride Tablets. We found they tended to be abrasive.

  • Consult with your dentist and get up to date information on toothpaste. This may help with reassuring you about the type of toothpaste you use with your child.

  • Fluoride protects teeth from acid which eats the enamel.

  • No,it was put in the water to help protect our teeth.
