Normally, I push him away then continue to feed after 5 minutes. But sometimes he still bites.

  • I find the best way is to pop my finger in to the side of their mouth to loosen their grip on the nipple and then say ouch, I then cover my nipple with my bra for 30-60 seconds and then try again. They soon learn that biting stops the feeding process, you have to be vigilant with it though.

  • Probably not helpful but I found once my daughter started biting, I couldn’t stop her. It was usually when my supply was a little low at the end of the day and she would get impatient.

  • I went through this with my first I would take the nipple away and say no firmly. I would stop feeding for 5-10 minutes then try again. I think the most I had to repeat this was 5 times!!! She soon got the idea, she was about 5 months and was an early teether so had full top and bottoms it wasn’t a pleasant experience

  • Give him something like a rusk to bite on. I would have stopped feeding him at that age if that is what he is doing!!

  • Nipple shield are the life savers.

  • Whenever my little one would bite me I’d say in a firm voice ‘NO’, it usually worked the first or second time of saying it.
