Not sure about shoulder, but my son is having a labral tear fixed in his hip. He’s been told he’ll need 6 weeks off work and 3-6 months of being careful once he returns to work
I do hope I do not offend you as it certainly is not my intent but I would have thought your surgeon should have told and discussed all treatment with you.
I also have had rotor cuff surgery but the magic number with just about all surgeries seems to be : be careful, take care etc for 6 weeks. After which a follow up appointment with the surgeon is scheduled. I had to wear a sling for those 6 wks after this I had Physical therapy, Care and treatment is extremely important other wise you may develop a frozen shoulder. Full recovery can take 4-6 months. I would have a very good talk to your Dr. Take it easy as it is only early days yet and wishing you a good recovery. All the best to you.
Your surgeon will have the best information because a lot depends on your shoulder structure and how bad the damage was. Age also has a huge part. Complications can also arise with shoulder surgeries but I’m sure you will get there soon. Hope you are doing well so far.
It can take up to 6 – 8 weeks and you have to keep using the sling without using any weight. Gradually progress with slow movements as recommended by Physiotherapist.
