Hi guys, have any of you ever purchased a home that needs fixing up? How much do you spend? What are the best things to fix. It is all livable just very early nineties. Is there any good websites or apps that can help? I am a little overwhelmed, everything costs thousands.

  • Renos can start from a few hundred into thousands. Strt with the items that are going to improve the value the most, do small handy jobs yourself while you save for the big “professional” ones. pintrest is great for ideas. Or ikea/bunnings websites too

  • thanks girls, love the idea of room at a time! Painting will definitely happen!

  • I agree painting is a good way to go for renovations and gives a fresh look. Clearance houses often have cheap supplies too which are worth sourcing.

  • Painting is an inexpensive Reno that can change things dramatically. Don’t just think walls, think bathroom cabinets, kitchen cupboards, window trimmings. It is a good start and can help with the feelings of being overwhelmed by still moving forward. We have lots we need to renovate and often I get overwhelmed. I try to remember to reflect on what we have done to make a difference.

  • DIY is cheaper and you can do it at your own pace. We tackle a room at a time as it seems less overwhelming. Budget depends on your style, size and the materials.

  • How much you spend depends on how much you have to spend. Start by making a list of what you want to do, sort it into what needs doing asap and what can wait. Then look at it as little projects. It’s less over whelming then seeing it all as one huge out of control project
