Hello!

I am nearly 40, and just had baby no 4. He is a healthy 8 month old. With my previous 3 children, my period returned 5 weeks afterwards with each of them, but I have not yet gotten my period after no. 4. I don’t feel pregnant- I have done pregnancy tests and all have returned a negative and I am wrapt with that. I don’t want any more children but hubby has changed his mind and now refuses to get a vasectomy. But more than anything else, I’d like to know when I could or should expect them? I am still actively breast feeding. Thanks

  • It’s pretty normal if breastfeeding

  • Well, you are older with this baby. You have three other children. You are still actively breastfeeding. All of which will be affecting your period return. If you don’t want any more babies, there are other options then your husband getting a vasectomy. Go to the chemist and check them out, take control, you have a say too don’t forget

  • If you breast feed full time your periods sometimes take a while to come back. Some ladies think that if you breast feed all the time you will not get pregnant. A lot of people today still think it is a form of contraception. Thinking along this line is like playing Russian Roulette! If you are concerned the wisest thing to do would be see your gp.

  • I have breastfed for 14 months now and got my period back not long after having bub, guess everyone is different

  • I didn’t get a period while I was breastfeeding.

  • I’m over 9 months and still have not got them. I expect once he starts weaning off the breast that they will come back.

  • Its diffeent for everyone, mine came back within six weeks each time i had a bubs and breastfeed each for over a year, and also feel pregnant each time while still breast feeding. One the mums in my mother group said one day her period hadnt came back after bubs no two and we all looked at her and told her to go get a pregnancy test on the way home. Sure enough she was pregnant.

  • just saw this is an old question. but I guess its the breast feeding! natural contraceptive. well I hope any way!! lots of other things affect your cycles. I like maca powder

  • Due to breastfeeding it can come whenever it isn’t timed.

  • how did you go? if you don’t mind answering but i think that your topic is one that many women your age would be curious to hear about.

  • Have a chat with your GP, it may just be your bodies way of saying ok shops shut! every woman is different and responds differently to significant changes in life

  • check with your doc. after my first baby, it took 6mths for me to get mine again
dr said i was fine though

other baby’s– have been around 5-6 weeks

  • Go to your dr they will be able to help

  • I would check with the doctor to know for sure

  • you should have your period by now, but if your breastfeeding this can make it stay away
