There seem to be so many negative stories on the news. Would we be better off not watching and living in ignorant bliss?

  • It is important to know what is going on in the world.
It is also important to make sure any viewing of it is age appropriate.

  • Not watching it doesn’t stop bad things from happening. I would avoid it in front of children tho, limit what they see depending on their age

  • We eat dinner at 6pm so my children don’t watch the news. If there is something happening that I think there might be talk about at school I will tell the. The basic details.

  • i get all my news online so yeah. i only read what i want to read.

  • I generally don’t watch the news because most of the stories are just for ratings and they manipulate the truth to what they think would make the best story. I see highlights on facebook but other than that don’t bother.

  • I have similar feelings. Our local news seems to go out of its way to have a good news story every night, they’re quite enjoyable, but don’t outweigh the bad by a long shot

  • The news can be negative and the key is to watch it once and then move on. I do like to stay informed, but not dwell on the negatives. Also, realising that media does focus on the negatives and not the positives keeps it in perspective.

  • For us, its important to stay informed – we watch the news.
