Any ideas on how to get a 2.5 year old to take Panadol and/or Nurofen without making himself vomit? I’ve tried putting it in milk, water, juice, ice cream. Panadol suppositories are what I’ve had to resort to! Please help.

  • I gave my youngest Panadol suppositories when she struggled taking it oral and had no problem with that. Alternatively you could add Panadol to food like wheetbix or a smoothie.

  • Give it very slowly in the corner of his mouth, give him time to breath and keep going very very slow. It was happening the same with my 2.5 DD.

  • Wow, I must be very lucky. My son actually sucks it out of the syringe and wants more!

  • that is not good, I would put it in a piece of chocolate lol

  • can you pretend the syringe is a plane and make it a game with the plane landing in the airport (mouth)?

  • we tried the dummy and then they suck the nurofen down with that. or just a spoon – works for mine

  • i hope you’ve had success

  • Hope you managed to work out how to best give it.

  • Cover the lolly pop in it?

  • What did you end up doing to make them take it?

  • If you have a strawberry flavoured drink – you can usually hide the strawberry tasting nurofen in that.

  • Try it in the cordial as the flavour can disguise it more-blackcurrant is a good one.

  • Mixing it with cordial usually works for me. Or follow through with a spoonful of honey or some lollies.

  • My daughter threw up the first (and only) time that she had Panadol – I think her gag reflex just bought it straight back up as I most likely syringed it in too fast… I have found that now with Nurofen, if I give her a little at a time she just swallows it down…

  • We have to just go really quick with the syringe, then a big drink of water afterwards.
