  • We celebrate our wedding anniversary each year (made harder by the fact I gave birth 4 years later on the same day) so we always are celebrating our daughters birthday. We try and either do a card, or celebrate just us two, even if its just a coffee date, where we reflect, sometimes we read our marriage vows again, go through wedding photos etc.

  • No, we’ve never been big on celebrations. We aren’t actually legally married, so we don’t have an official anniversary date. Which makes it even harder

  • We go away with the kids for a weekend getaway

  • A staycation is a great idea.

  • Plan quality time together…a dinner, a day trip, drive in cinema and head to a cosy pub of restaurant, check out a new bar, enjoy each course of your meal at a new location, have a picnic with a view, a sunset cruise, have the kids sleepover at friends places and hire a chef or someone (Airtasker ad) to cook and clean up so you both get to enjoy the quality time :) don’t worry too much about gifts…take it back to bringing in those feels!

  • If you have children maybe they could have sleepovers, not necessarily all at the same place. you can either go out or stay home and have some undisturbed romantic time / fun together.
I think there is only 1 or 2 drive- in theatres in SA now.

  • We’ve never done presents I think the most important thing is to celebrate your relationship and love for each other and that will be different for everyone but I find it fun to spend time together remembering how it started and having a quiet drink.

  • My husband and I go out for dinner and a movie or we go away for a weekend when we can for our anniversary. We have been married for 19 years this year so we will plan something big for next year. 20 years should get celebrated!

  • We have never bought each other a wedding anniversary present as we felt it was more important to make sure we spend time together on that day or very near to that day – like go for a meal or drink together, or share a nice glass of wine when the kids are in bed. We find that life is so busy, that factoring in time together is so very important and we make it a sure priority on our anniversary.
Otherwise, I am big into giving ‘experiences’ as gifts particularly if you can do them together, such as trying something new like segways, rock climbing, escape hunt etc.

  • We got together during the footy grand final back in 1988. So we celebrate by watching the AFL footy grand final each year. We’re not big on anniversaries, Valentine’s Day, birthdays ect.

  • I generally do a little joke gift depending on what the gift is for the year, for example for our 1st wedding anni I got hubby a roll of loo paper and wrote on it “I love the Sh*t out of you”
Otherwise we generally don’t do ‘proper’ gifts we just do a date! This year we went to the movies and then did an escape room.

  • We take turns in organising plans for our anniversary getaways.

  • To keep things “fun” we try to stick to the “traditional anniversary gifts” sometimes we have to think outside the box for present ideas. We go out to dinner, or lunch and spend the day together to celebrate. Though hubby would be happy with a box of maltesers & watching Netflix (mm actually me too haha)

We also try to go to the outdoor garden where we had our wedding and take photos standing where we had our ceremony, the idea is to see the changes over the years.

  • We generally don’t exchange gifts, but go out for dinner.

  • A night out – dinner or movies, plan a romantic dinner at home, a drive out into the country and stop for lunch somewhere. After being together for so long, there really isn’t an awful lot to buy for each other, whereas finding the time to go out and enjoy each other’s company is more special.
