We used to have an inside dog and the hair accumulated and we have some blankets I would love to start using again but I can’t seem to get the dog hair out of the blankets. Should I dispose of the blankets? Or is there a way to get the dog hair out?

  • hang it on fence or better yet clothes line and beat it! then vac and launder.

  • I use sticky tape or roller to get rid of most of it, then painfully remove the stubborn ones by hand

  • Dry cleaning may be an answer to this hairy problem!

  • Thank goodness I have not had this problem with dog hair but I had the same issue with my beautiful Fluffy. He was a champagne cream chinchilla cat and left fur everywhere.. Sticky tape and vacuuming worked well. For years after he died I would find little wisps of his fur in the bottom of wardrobes and occasionally on hubby’s suit etc.

  • It depends. Our dog is short haired and moults a lot! Because the hair is short, it actually sticks into fabrics, making it pretty much impossible to remove unless you painstakingly remove each hair one at a time

  • I would also suggest vacuuming and trying the sticky tape first to get most of the hair off, and then try washing them by machine or by hand and adding fabric softener in the final rinse, spin dry and then vigourously shake them both before hanging them out to dry, and again once they’re dry.

  • Have you tried vacuuming them? For surface hair, rolling extra wide sticky tape or clear masking tape across the surface picks up heaps – you need a lot of tape though!
