I fed my palms and bamboo potted plants last month with pure sheep manure from my sisters farm and nearly killed them all because of the acidity level. I’m now trying to revive them with TLC… any help appreciated.

  • Seasol is mainly a root tonic so it would have repaired the damage to the root systems. From memory you can buy plastic containers of fertilizers for various plants. I think there is one specifically for palms and similar trees.

  • yes try seasol which you probably already have

  • Have you tried a tiny bit of seasol, inwould avoid manure

  • Seasol and vegetable water – great way to revive them :)

  • I would use a spike that releases just what is needed

  • Well done saving your plants! Nothing like the feeling of reviving a sad pot plant!

  • so good to hear that they survived

  • there are some good comments here

  • What did you end up using?

  • I thought bamboo would just grow like crazy without to much fussing.??

  • Have u had any success?

  • Glad you managed to save them. You can always ask your local nursery for advice in the future. I often go in with questions and they are always more than willing to offer good solutions.

  • Some good advice there below.

  • I managed to save them… they are starting to shoot new sprouts on the top. Major Hip hip hooray! I fed them Seasol and left-over water from boiling/ / steaming kitchen vegetables. With all the extra water from the hose to drain away the sheep manure and adding Seasol and vegetable water from my kitchen seems to have done the job. Thanks MoMs. Mission accomplished.

  • Can I ask how you went? if your plants were going to die they would have done it by now, hoping all went well!
