I live in west melbourne and normally buy organic apples from coles or safeway, but the past couple of months they don’t have them, but regular apples are available?

Ask your question
  • Hope you found some at your local farmers market?

  • Why do you insist on organic apples? You could ask your local Coles and Woolies if they plane to get more in. Melbourne has great farmers markets, try there, they’re bound to have some

  • Have a look around where you live and talk to farmers, they can help you

  • If you go for a drive along roads where there are orchards you may find a sign saying apples for sale. Preferrably a properly established shed or shelter, not just along the side of the road not near any buildings. The reason I state that is because friends of ours actually had an apple orchard in the Adelaide Hills. On a couple of occasions they spotted people picking up apples that had fallen off trees near the road edge and didn’t worry too much about it. It saved them having to get rid of them and the people weren’t damaging the trees at all. They thought they were taking them home and using them. They discovered they were bagging them up and selling them as 1st grade apples. They would have been bruised and hadn’t been graded either. People like that sell damaged fruit etc. and give the industry a bad reputation. On another orchard the owners discovered people illegally picking apples off the trees and selling them. They had to have some gaps in fences in case of bushfires.

  • The local markets or queen vic markets

  • you can order online but i guess it would be more expensive

  • local markets should have them, or ask at IGA. Also if your anywhere near baccus Marsh you can go direct to the farms and depending on the season pick your own fruit.

  • Organic apples go to the markets

  • I’ve seen them in Queen Victoria markets while I was there, not sure if they are still available now.

  • Dandenong market in the middle of the fruit section where mostly apples are sold

  • I buy my apples from Queen Victoria Market in the Organic Section.

  • I buy them from the local market.
