Hello!

That’s $200 per month!

My hubby and his parents have come up with an AMAZING business idea! They will iron 4 of his shirts per week for a mere $50.

Here’s the best bit- I still get to walk around the house searching for his shirts, then wash and dry them.

Currently he irons his own shirts- and I’ve now offered to do it for him… at half the price of his parents. Unfortunately though he doesn’t want to take me up on my offer.

I’m now questioning WHY I’m expected to do anything for this man for FREE especially if he’s so willing to PAY his parents…

As a side note I probably should mention that I’d be more supportive of this idea if his parents actually needed the extra money. As it stands, they don’t- and where does one magically come up with an additional $200 per month to pay for something so unnecessary!?

  • No, you can get it cheaper then that but if you feel that’s what you want to spend on dry cleaning then that’s your choice.

  • If they don’t need the money then this is a bit silly. It’s cheeky on their behalf that they even asked.

  • This is crazy! No way I’d pay this.

  • No! But is is some sort of scam/tax related benefit? Not sure how this worked but I once knew of a couple who sent themselves up as a taxi business and charged to take the grand kids (or whatever) to school. The parent’s could claim some sort of expense. Must have been desperate because I can’t imagine it was much.

  • No way I would pay family to do this nor would they accept payment anyway.

  • No way! I used to pay my pensioner Mum $50 for the entire ironing load over a fortnight way back when. She would have done it for free but I was adamant she take some money for it. I wanted to help her out in a way that she would accept and still feel independent.

  • No way would I pay $50, my mother would gladly do it for nothing. Go to be more to this if they don’t need the money.

  • Good luck with getting a resolution!

  • No way ! But I’m happy to iron your 4 shirts for $50 a week ;)

  • There’s no way I would pay family to do this. I’m sure it’s a lot cheaper to get them drycleaned. Maybe he owes them money and it’s his way of doing so without letting you know.

  • No. I will not pay.

  • Wow… that’s ridiculous! My MIL has occasionally ironed for my hubby and not charged anything! I’ve done it on a rare occasion but I’m not great at it and hubby doesn’t really worry about it anymore. But charging family, especially at such an exorbitant amount, is just not done.

  • I wouldn’t pay anyone for doing my ironing either ! Maybe he just wants to bless his parents and make them feel important ?

  • There seems to be lots of layers to this question.
Directly answering the question about ironing. I would not pay anyone for ironing; however I do not know the rates for ironing. Maybe a search for actual rates might help? Information is always key!
$200 saving per month sounds good!

  • I don’t understand why he can’t continue to do his own shirts if he’s already been doing it why he wants to pay his parents such a price for 4 shirts. Never heard of this before from anyone
