Hello!

“My mum said to take the nail polish to school and use it so I don’t mess up the house” was my daughter’s friend’s explanation as to why she had painted my daughter’s school uniform in bright red and blue nail polish.

I’m not talking about the children’s ‘washable’ stuff either- but the real deal!

Not meaning to be a killjoy, but if you don’t want your child destroying your home and contents with nail polish, then why insist they take it to school to ruin something which I now have to replace?

Why allow them to have it at all especially if you recognise that they’re too young to use it appropriately? Besides, it’s against the school rules to even have painted nails at school.

  • I guess that person didn’t give it much thought of it being a problem to send it to school.

  • I can understand your frustration. I hope you’ve found something that helped to take out the nail polish from clothing. Kids get so excited about things and want to share with their friends.

  • Sorry, but I would frankly say no thank you.

  • That is terrible. I would have a word with the other child’s mother and hope that she is reasonable and will help with the uniform replacement cost.

  • Oh I’d be so angry! That stuff is hard to get out. I’d be having a word with the friend’s mum

  • How frustrating. I take it the girl’s mother had no idea them at her daughter took nail polish to school.

  • i’m surprised it wasn’t confiscated at school as it is a banned substance as it is poisonous! tell the school!

  • I doubt the mum even knew. The girl probably just said that

  • No I wouldn’t send my child to school with nail polish. That’s just asking for trouble!

  • What?that’s absurd…

  • my kids school has a ban on kids having painted nails so I’m pretty sure if a kid had nail polish at school it wouldn’t go down too well

  • I personally don’t like to see kids with painted nails. Even less for going to school.
