Hello!

My darling toddler has discovered his possession are mostly gifts. So every now and he asks ‘who gave me this mum’ and holds up a toy. We have a nice discussion about his birthday or Christmas and the cup from Grandma, or the puzzle from a cousin.
He asked me who gave him to me.
Sweetest question. But umm… so I said he grew in my tummy (and we talked about other mums we know who have babies in their tummy and that’s where babies come from). Then he asked if his daddy grew in my tummy… and if his grandparents grew in my tummy… no just him. They were in another tummy.
He paused. Then said ‘mummy I’m scared there’s a baby growing in MY tummy’. So now we’ve had our first introduction to sex ed where females grow babies but not males, so he can’t have a baby in his tummy. Oh gosh what have I got coming when he’s older!

  • Thanks for sharing your cute story. Children do ask the cutest and funniest questions. No doubt as your little one grows the questions and explanations will become more complex.
