Hello!

I found this post online by another mum who has teens and it made me laugh. Thought i’d share and see if any of you have had this same experience. Luckily I am a few years off having to go through this….Here it is:

“All I know is that I carried you for nine months. I fed you, I clothed you, I paid for your college education. Friending me on Facebook seems like a small thing to ask in return.”

Hahaha I can imagine some of the younger ones I know who I am also a friend of their parents on facebook NOT accepting them as friends. As a parent of a teen would you “friend” your teen on facebook? and if so, do you think they would accept?

  • Absolutely be friends with your children on facebook, This is also advised by the police and by schools and other organisations. Parents should know who their children are friends with and this includes social networks. Children should use facebook appropriately and there is not need for hiding what they are doing. It is about mutual respect.

  • I believe kids need some space and privacy, so I am not a friend on facebook, I thinks that is just tooo much. Thank you for sharing your story.

  • I think well I hope by the time my children who are currently 2yrs and 5 months that Facebook won’t be only form of communication because I feel that it will be if you ain’t on a computer I ain’t talking. English will be in written form only not spoken. I hope this isn’t true as I rather my children talk to me directly not via Facebook
