Hello!

last week was one of the scariest of my life, My 11 month old son came out in heaps of bruises, so we rushed him the doc who ordered blood tests straight away. HIs platelet levels came back at 39, (they should be around 200) He was rushed to our major hospital 700 kms away and admitted to the oncology/haematology ward for further testing and monitoring. He had repeat blood tests over the next few days and has been officially diagnosed with ITP or Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura. This should resolve by itself in the next 6 weeks. We are now home from hospital and he is having weekly blood tests to monitor his platelets and white/red blood counts. It surely was such a scary time, but we have been blessed with the best outcome :-)

  • I can only imagine how scary it would have been, I hope everything turns out for the best. I remember how scared I was when my 14 month old son he is older now, was admitted to hospital as he had severe tonsillitis, one more night & he wouldn’t have made it, so scary :)
