Everyone has times in their lives when their parents or other relatives embarass them. However my mother took it to a whole new level.
My mum was (and still is) an entertainer. From when I was young I remember going to see her in shows wearing the most outrageous costumes. And for a few years I even joined her in performing. Yet when my mum left the stage she quite often would wear her costumes out in public and even to pick me up from school. I remember the time she was a promotional clown for the opening of a Kmart in my local area – and my mum went up to all my school friends and their parents – hugging them in a clowny over the top fashion.
I also remember her coming to pick me up from school as an elf and a fairy.
To this day she loves to dress up and entertain children and adults a like with her own small business as well as being a school librarian and involved in the local community theatre.

Hehehe I was only talking to my 12 year old yesterday about how I would never walk with my mum as a teen as I was embarrassed by her clothes….looking back it was very narrow minded. This was discussed on our way to her high school orientation day and she made me feel pretty spesh by denying any awkward feelings. All mums are special and I wish I’d realised earlier….love ya to the moon and back mama bear xx

Sounds like your mum was a lot of fun for others – although a bit embarrassing for you. Sounds like you coped well! Good to see you sharing these memories in a fun way now.
