Hello!

Our beloved poodle Lillie is now in Doggie Heaven – a heart breaking decision to make considering she was only three years old. Lillie chose my autistic son as her special human and they were incredibly bonded. Sadly she was plagued with hereditary illness and chronic skin and ear infections and she needed to be set free of pain. My son is now 23, and I was incredibly touched to see him take Lills to the Vet stay with her and cuddle her as she was made ready for her journey to Doggie Heaven. Whilst my brave boy was doing this, I was a crumpled mess on the couch. As Nick told me, he processes things differently to me, and can cope better!! How wonderful life is when I realise he is going to be ok – left of centre, but ok… Lillie is sadly missed, and Nick and I will scatter her ashes at her favourite park one evening. See you again some day Lillie xxxx

  • I am very sad for your loss; hope you and your son find comfort in her memories. My parents had to put down their beloved dog a week back due to illness and everyone is still devastated.

  • a very hard decision to make especially when she was so young.. You do have to think and know you did what was best for her though.

    • Thanks – I spoke with the breeder last night and it was a really cathartic conversation – and she is so shocked with the level of illness our baby Lillie had, and has offered a puppy to my boy when we have grieved… Might be a while x

  • oh that is sad. pets become a part of the family and the kids grow up with them and it is sad to say goodbye because usually this is the first time that they see something pass on
