Hello!

There is lots of talk in the media at the moment about the importance of having regular blood pressure tests due to the increased risk of stroke with high blood pressure. By donating blood regularly you get your blood pressure checked every time, making it not only a great way to help save the lives of other, but also to possibly save your own by keeping a regular check on your blood pressure!

I have recently discovered I have high blood pressure – picked up the blood bank at a regular donation. I’m now taking steps to reduce my blood pressure to decrease my likelihood of stroke and other health related problems caused by high blood pressure.

Have you ever donated? If not, Why not take the quick quiz to see if you are eligible right now?

  • I haven’t, I fully intend to, I’ve taken the quiz and it says I’m eligible to do it. The biscuits in the TV ads look so inviting :)

  • Well done Kylie – we all need a gentle reminder every now and then. I’ve been meaning to donate again for years, but I never seem to ‘find the time’. Thanks for reminding us, that it not only saves lives, but you get a free health check while you’re at it!

  • no I do not donate as I have antibodies which attack me and I gave birth to my own personal blood bank if needed as she has the same rare blood type as me and she is 30yrs old this year so it is not like I would be putting a little one through anything if needed she is an adult and it is good that you do well done and I also am at the doctors monthly and get checked out each month when I am there for my B12 injection
