Hi moms,

We are starting to see sunny and warmer days starting to appear and spring starts on Tuesday. Warm and hot weather means the emerging of snakes. I was visiting my friend and during this visit she told me that she had seen a large brown snake slither out of a wood pile and old car parts in the car port. Her reaction was to grab her small dog and quickly lock her inside the house for her safety. On returning with hubby and son they spotted the snake slithering under the fence and into the back reserve (which by the way is well kept grass and a few nice trees planted and maintained by the council and is a regular walking path for local walkers and joggers).
Spring sees the danger of swooping magpies but please remember when out and about to keep your wits about you and keep an eye not only on the sky but on the ground as well. And for those of you that have wood piles for indoor fire’s or wood BBQ’s please be careful when retrieving wood or tidying up.
All the very best to you all and enjoy springing into spring.

  • With the weather warming up again you need to be so on to it. We’ve had sightings of many red belly blacks in our area, not what you want to see!

  • oh yeah, you have to be so careful around these areas. make a lot of noise to scare off the snakes. clearing up the yard prevents snakes from hiding in your backyard.

  • Thanks for all the great comments folks ..just remember when out hiking or bush walking to step heavily and make a bit of a noise. Hopefully any snakes around have the opportunity to scat, remember they can here you coming and really just want to get out of your way.
