  • well try to make everything climb proof! my son will walk around and use his baby table as a step. He gets everywhere so i just have to be vigilant and try to distract him. I am worried that if i yell at him to get off something, he will jump from the loud noise and fall and then get hurt because of that.

  • Actually my little one did it. I take him to our local park which have playground on there so he can play or climb.

  • My granddaughter was an early walker and climber too. She also was a night owl who loved to roam. So they could get some sleep they had to put temporary bathroom door knobs on her door with lock button on the outside. They had to put her cot away after catching her walking on the top like a tight rope walker and just had her mattress set up on the floor. That’s pretty much all they could have in her room other than soft toys. She wasn’t happy about it but it didn’t take that long for her to settle into sleeping through so then they still closed the door but didn’t lock it . Same for day time sleep. They put child locks on doors and drawers that would assist her climbing. It was very hard. If I was ever minding her I couldn’t take my eyes off her. I know it is tough and lots of us know you are doing everything possible to keep your precious girl safe. I don’t know if you pray, but I depend on it and
I prayed every day for my little darling to be safe. She is 5 now and is still the best climber on the rope/ net things at the play park she also has awesome balance and I think your little one does too. I’m not sure anyone will have a complete answer for you but as she got older we all encouraged her to think of playparks as “climbing places”, and in the house as “not a climbing place”. It’ s not that climbing is wrong or naughty , it’s that there are places that are safe and places that are not.

  • I think I would have a panic attack if I saw her doing that climb in front of the TV. Omg the tv could fall on her and that would not be a good outcome. You need to tell her no and if she does not listen put her in for timeout. Better to be harsh than sorry before it is too late.

    • That’s the whole point of this post.. That’s not even the highest thing she has climbed on. She has been climbing since she was 7 months old, we have done everything we can think of to get her to stop but nothing has worked. If I hadn’t tried everything I could think of I wouldn’t have posted this…

And the tv won’t fall on her, it’s secure. I’m not silly

  • One of my twins was a climber and there was nothing I could do to stop him climbing apart from trying to control the environment he was in, but even then he climbed on things and in ways I wouldn’t have thought of. For example I blocked the stairs off with a safety gate but he managed to climb up the outside of the stair balustrade. That freaked me out completely. From a very young age he also managed to climb out of his cot and into his sisters cot. He never really grew out of it, he’s still totally adventurous.

  • Just make it as safe as you can, put padding on corners make sure furniture is secure etc, climbers will be climbers there isnt a great deal you can do unfortunately

    • This is probably the best answer I’ve ever gotten :)
Thank you. I always feel like I’m failing when I cannot stop her.

  • I can’t take her to the park all the time, I just don’t get a chance

She has been climbing since about 7months, she is now just over 2 and still going
She has fallen off things and hurt herself, cries, and then does it again
I just don’t know what to do anymore

  • Can you take her to a park and wear her out so she doesn’t have the energy to climb
