Hello!

It happens every month… out come the cut and paste commenters! I love the recipes section and am fast becoming an avid viewer of the new crafts section (looking for ideas to keep a nearly two year old busy) and I love to look at pretty much every entry. I do usually add a comment because someone has taken the time to share a recipe or idea – but I never do a ‘thanks for sharing’ because I want the person who shared to know that I actually took the time to check out their recipe or activity. This month I’ve noted that in the recipes section there is a ‘this looks interesting thanks for sharing’ comment on nearly every recipe. I hope I don’t see the same in the Arts & Crafts section.

  • Sometimes I’ve said that but I don’t copy and paste; usually I just like the article but don’t have a lot of time to make a big comment!

  • haha – I was so tempted to write – there are some good ideas here, thanks for sharing as a comment! 😉 I see what you mean though, maybe admin can make a list of the main offenders and send them a gentle reminder that those comments won’t be counted in future?

  • I do not cut and paste, However, over the last 2 days I have noticed someone (I will not mention the name) who has commented with “there are some good comments here” over 20 times and even had multiple comments the next day. Now if this isn’t cut and paste, I do not know what is!

  • I might say thanks for sharing rather than, I don’t really like this recipe, I thinks that sounds better.

  • I don’t mind the little “thanks for sharing” comments, just being polite for taking the time to share with us all and I appreciate it all <3

  • I love the recipe section too – but now I’m going back over them just to read the comments! I didn’t realise that people do that!

  • I think this was more about people who use the exact same comment for every article or recipe or craft… I wouldn’t think anyone was against saying thank you 🙂

  • I couldn’t agree more. There is one name I keep seeing with exactly the same response snd I seriously wonder whether she even reads the article

  • Jodie and Alexandra you have a great attitude- “thanks for sharing” your thoughts and appraisal. I have looked at many of your wonderful ideas by the way in the craft section Jodie.

  • I agree with all of the ladies that are saying that a thank you is better than not saying thanking you at all. I don’t cut and paste but sometimes do add a thanks for sharing as I value all contribution and it’s what makes this website run for all. I find it rather interesting that the people who every month complain about the cutting and pasting are the people from whom I have cryptically commented in the validity of the source of their recipes, as they seem to have multitudes especially when the site was running a huge points incentive a few months back there were a few and one person who has commented on this post that had so many recipes that I don’t know how they find time to fit anything else into their life. Last mouth somebody asked people to make intelligent comments on recipes etc. I’m sorry but when you provide something as rudimentary as the perfect boiled rice or egg I don’t believe their can be much of an intelligent comment made unless you are a very false person. Everyone is entitled to say what they like. Frankly I’m sick of it being bitched about. If people didn’t say thank you I’m sure someone would have something to say about that as well. Be grateful you’re being thanked.

  • It is funny u can see ‘Looks pretty thanks for sharing” on some sad stories…

  • As a newbie I’m just grateful for any comments and the affirmation that someone is actually reading something that I wrote 🙂 But I can see the value of constructive affirmation or criticism. At the very least it might start up a conversation which I can respond to.

  • I kind of like when people just say thanks its better than leaving no comment. I post a lot of thing in the craft and cooking sections and i like to see how many people look at my post even if they do write thanks for sharing .

  • thats fair enough.. i will think of more creative answers… Although i would only write thanks for sharing if i had already seen a similar one or i have seen the story or blog before 🙂 Time 2 get creative with my answers…

  • I agree that they get repetitive but so do the looks delicious comments.

  • It is probably a nice thing that people say thanks for sharing but it would be great if people added their version of the recipe or if they shared it because they liked it. I usually share the ones that are relevant to me or my friends. For example the lovely dragonfruit drink is great one for me as it grows in my back yard and I never thought of making it into a drink.

  • I dont do a cut and paste but I do say thanks for sharing as I do enjoy reading them, and more often then not try them out, didnt mean to offend anyone was just trying to be polite

  • I am not against saying ‘thanks for sharing’ but as someone who likes to share my recipes too I do prefer it when something else is added.

  • This is so true!! I tried replying on those commenters who cut and paste but didn’t really work… It is so unfair. Some of them didn’t even bother correcting their typos with the cut and paste…

  • a lot of the time you just want to thank the person for taking the time to write and add their recipe and sharing it. To alot of people it is being polite. I have never cut and paste a comment and do not read the other comments as I do my own but I do put a thank or thanks for sharing as well as more with it
