Just wondering how many of you begin to feel stressed when Christmas items start appearing in the shops, or do you feel excited with the thought of gift giving, preparing Christmas meals etc..?

  • My Husband just loves Christmas but me on the other hand always find it overwhelming as I intend to invite my family every year and none of them turn up

  • I feel sad in the lead up to Christmas. Growing up, we had wonderful big family Christmases. It was the same when my kids were growing up. Then they left hone and the rest of the family fractured. I am left alone at Christmas now

    • Is there anyway of arranging get togther at all ? I think there is always one person that has to start and it could be the start to peacemaking too . We had a lot of things happened leading up to Chrissie , but don’t want to focus on that now. I hope you find some way to it . All the best .

  • I generally feel excited but stressed at the same time. Its a reminder that it’s fast approaching and for someone that gets paid fortnightly I’m always counting how many more pay days away. A few years ago I done what I thought was the best thing ever. I set up hamper king/chrisco and only ordered gift cards. A $50 gift card would only cost an extra $5 to pay it off throughout the year. I ordered a few hundred dollars worth for different stores. big w, kamrt, target etc and of course chucked in a 1st choice and a lennards gift card for ourselves. With the department store gift cards, I used those to buy the gifts instead of giving the vouchers away. Its an excellent way to budget and save for Christmas. I will def be doing it for next year.

  • I buy present throughout the year when items are on special so it’s not a last minute thing. I don’t worry about Christmas too much until i give my son is advent calendar and I make a count down calendar that he can cross out each morning. A couple of weeks before Christmas we put the tree and decorations up and take each day as it comes. Christmas should not be stressed out, but relaxed and cruizy. It doesn’t matter if everything is perfect as long as you have fun. :-)

  • It used to stress me, particularly since there are a couple of birthdays very close to Xmas, but the last couple of years I have been organised a couple of months ahead of Xmas

  • I love Christmas time! We generally prepare the Christmas tree at the end of November and take it away at the beginning of January. The house looks so cozy with all the decorations.
I haven’t even thought about Christmas gifts yet. I should start!!

  • Its definitely a bit of both…stressful preparing for the day with organising and the financial side of it. Excited when buying my daughters gifts as I cant wait to see her face on Christmas day when she unwraps them!! :)

  • No stress – I just wish the Christmas decorations would go up later and keep some of the magic of Christmas.
