Hello!

Recently we had another unexpected very hot day 32.0c and on October! My husband was inside and my little boy was having snack so I ducked downstairs to do some laundry taking my mobile so I could listen to some music. A few weeks earlier I had moved a bag of water bombs down there as we use the laundry tap usually to fill.
I put on the laundry and started a bit of a tidy up and found the balloons! Perfect!
I was giggling to myself as I filled each one and placed in the basket – feeling a little guilty I posted a message on FB with a photo “Its 32.0c – I am planning a surprise attack in 5 minutes – love me x”, with a photo of the balloons. Guilt suddenly gone I called out for the boys, followed by water bombing, buckets of water being thrown and a very wet and happy family! Lots of fun!

  • Just imagine on Dad with a huge plastic water gun (he only had shorts on – no top), one kid went and got a little one and snuck up behind him, and the other one grabbed the hose, dropped it behind him with the water spraying upwards, the Dad dropped the water gun in shock. Both kids had a water gun so the Dad started to run for cover, spun around and turned the hose over. The kids thought they were safe. Glad my lawn got watered in the process and they did it during water rationing legal time.

  • Don’t you love those spontaneous family fun times, I think often the most memorable and fun times as a family are the times when things just happen rather than when they are planned.

  • That sounds like a great idea! What fun :-) We’ve got some very hot days coming up here so I might have to follow suit. On particularly hot days we make fruit smoothies to help keep us cool. My little guy loves them.

    • Fruit smoothies sounds great we have just started a run of hot days too! Might give smoothies a go tomorrow

  • What a great way to spend a hot day

  • I wish we could do this – for medical reasons my eldest has to be carefully prepped before he gets his head wet, which rules out this kind of spontaneity. Glad you enjoyed it, though.

    • It makes it hard when you need to get prepared, I was in a similar situation when I was younger.

Not sure it will work but my mum would sometimes get me ready but not tell me why which is sometime exciting in itself depending on age. We would then go outside hide around the corner with a hose and call my sister and dad out. Always was fun to be in cahoots with my mum.
