Hello!

As Im a mum to 5 boys and a step mum to two girls and two boys, I struggle with my step dad whom I live with and is 11 years old. Currently in our house lives myself, my husband, his 11 year old daughter, my eldest son who is 13 and together my husband and I have our miracle boy who is only 1 year old. As I’ve never had a daughter myself, my step daughter and I have been living together now for 3 years, we used to be so close but lately she seems so distant and moody. I relise she is starting puberty and hormones etc but I don’t know how to deal with her moodiness and rude attitude towards me. How can I teach her to respect me without making her feel like I’m picking on her constantly??? . I want us to have a good relationship like I have with my son’s. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read my story. ????

  • I would say it’s definitely hormone related. I haven’t met a tween yet that hasn’t got some kind of attitude problem. There could be some other problems causing it, like maybe her birth mother? Obviously I dont know the situation the best thing you can do is get her to sit down and talk to you about what is wrong and how you can both overcome it. Also, talk to your husband and get him to talk to her aswell. Communication is key.
