  • Go for it, it gives you an extra interest, extra money and as long as it does not become a burden it is always nice to have your own purpose, just keep the roles separate and allocate time for work and play. enjoy

  • I was doing book keeping for my mum (she owns a book keeping business so I had several companies I was looking after). as long its a small business it won’t take up much of your time, just keep on top of entries, I was mostly using reckon (online). Does she have a program she is currently using or are you starting from scratch? Quick books has just bought out a new version (not Reckon) that was pretty simple in navigating around and you could link their online bank statements in so all you have to do is match up with receipts. (this can be done in MYOB i believe as well as reckon but I found it much easier in the new Quick books.) Its all run online so can be accessed from wherever (makes it easier if you want to do it from home and your friend can have access to it from their work) Also make sure you keep all receipts for tax purposes (so many people forget to do this) they can be scanned so its a digital copy instead of keeping the paper one. Hope it all works out for you :)

  • Just make sure you keep the roles separate; job and friendship.

  • I did book keeping for a friend and it ended up with us no longer being friends as when i brought it to her attention that she was spending quite a bit of money and they were going to struggle for the bills if she carried on she took it the wrong way and told me to keep my nose out even tho she asked for my help in the first place.

  • If things are entered weekly it should only take 1 hour max depending on how big the business is…

  • Not a formal book keeper, but from voluntary roles I’d say don’t let too much back up before you enter it.
