Wow does time fly!!!
I posted a story last year after loosing my dad to cancer. Cancer runs high in our family.
My mum had breast cancer, her mum had breast cancer, her aunt had breast cancer
mums brother had throat cancer, her dad died in 2011 from cancer, her cousin had stomach cancer and another great aunt had brain cancer
My dad had liver cancer, his mum passed from caner in 2011 too and his cousin had breast cancer.
That is why in 2011 I decided to start looking into preventive surgery. I was only 21 at the time but i researched for 2 yrs and finally had my surgery april 10th 2014! I cannot believe its been a year since dad passed away and this friday, a year since my surgery.
I still feel very proud and empowered but also only now just resurfacing after a horrible year!~

Post your story
  • Cancer had a high mortality rate in my partners family, I worry about him and what our kids have inherited. His grandparents both succumbed, his mum, an Aunty, an uncle, one of his sisters….not to mention those that have had treatable cancer

  • Absolutely and yes I have 3 kids :)

  • That must be enormously difficult – and so frightening if you have kids, to know they have that legacy too.
