I am now keen to learn how to drive a car is it too late as I am now in my 50s as I did have driving lessons many years ago but suddenly stopped as I had a terrible experience with a driving instructor he turned up to pick me up for a lesson and when I started driving I then realised that he smelled like alcohol yes he was very drunk and stupid me got in the car and drove with this person I mananged to finish the lesson in one piece but I never went back to learn which I regret now as it would make life so much easier for everyone if I could drive is it to late to learn again

  • Is it against the law to have a drunk instructor ? I would have reported him as he put your life at risk . it is never too late to learn anything .

  • Never too old to learn. Get out there and have a go, you never know how you’ll go

  • It’s never too late, I know quite a few ladies that didn’t start driving until later in life.

  • Hi, well I am really putting it out there now aren’t I, well here goes.
I turned 59 on Father’s Day and have ever held a drivers licence, I did have my L’s when younger but just never persisted learning, my daughter (when she was young) and myself were in a car accident (a elderly neighbour was driving) luckly none of us was seriously hurt but I think that had an effect on me as well. There are so many times I wished I had my licence but I am not confident enough and personally the general public could do without me on the road. But back to you ..you are never to old to learn anything and being able to drive a car and hold a drivers licence is such a wonderful thing to have. You are keen so go for it, it will open up a whole new world for you. I truly wish you are the very best and hope that you share a story again when you have your P’s if you do decide to give it a whirl.
Good Luck and wishing you great success. :-)

  • It’s never too late to do anything. I drive an automatic and really don’t know much about manual driving and I was thinking of having some lessons. I’m in my 30’s and didn’t get my licence until later in life.
