What are the nutritional benifits if any of adding sliced citrus fruits into drinking water?

I’m wanting to start a healthier lifestyle and shed some kilos. Iv always been curious if I could consider sliced lemon or lime to my water as part of a calorie burner?

Thanks :)

  • I have a slice of lemon and a blob of ginger in hot water, 2 mugs before I have breakfast. The lemon is supposed to be a metabolism kick starter as well as a liver and kidney cleanse. Not sure if it’s helped me lose weight, I haven’t gained any either, which is good. The ginger is an anti inflammatory for my arthritis. And I think it’s a nice refreshing drink

  • I can’t think of any major nutritional benefits to this. However, when you drink water constantly, your palate needs a change. This is a healthy alternative.

  • Yep I heard lemon is supposed to be beneficial too. Don’t know about lime though…?

  • I heard lemon with warm water in the morning is really good for the digestive system and helps with constipation.
    My naturopath told me this.

  • Apparently lemon gives your metabolism a ‘kick start’ and also has cleansing properties. Plenty of water is good for overall health.

  • I bought a clear jug (3 litre) that has a internal cylinder that you fill with water & freeze & on Xmas day I put water & lime cordial & slices of lemon & lime on the table for anyone that felt like it. It was a big hit! I’ve since tried chopped peaches & strawberries & mint & it is just as refreshing. It hydrates you & great to have in summer when drinking alcohol.

  • I too think I might be adding some lemon to my water in the New Year. I have decided I have a couple of unwanted kilos and besides that I find the taste in summer quite refreshing.

  • Apparently it has been discussed as a potential kick starter of the metabolism when drank first thing in the morning. Also when put in honey and warm water there has been some thoughts that it may have antibacterial properties, especially when leaving the rind on. Lemons reportedly get the stomach acids going and increase stomach muscle activity.

  • Probably adds some vit c. Also helps with balancing the ph of your body, ie, less acidic, which is good for you.

  • I’m not sure if it has any nutritional benefits, but it can add just a hint of flavor, and make water more appealing.
