Funny and embarrassing.

I found I always needed to watch what I said in front of my kids because they would repeat anything they heard and usually out of context. They are hilarious but also embarrassing at times.

Yes, kids say the funniest unedited things, sometimes majorly embarrassing, and they have a terrible habit of repeating what we say at the worst possible times. I still cringe nearly 17 years later when I think back to a comment my toddler daughter made to a service station attendant. It was, of course, completely my fault. I had been watching tv the night before and could not stand an obnoxious ad that was constantly on tv and ignorantly said out loud, “What a fat dork.” Not my best moment!
Of course, my daughter decided to wait until my husband carried her inside to buy her an ice block whilst paying for the fuel at the same time to deliver that very same comment to the very nice man serving at the counter who innocently said hello and wasn’t she pretty! I don’t think he thought she was very pretty after she delivered that one-liner!
Needless to say, my husband came rushing out of there as fast as possible, his face red with embarrassment and I cringed realizing exactly where that comment had actually come from. It still makes me grit my teeth all these years later, like Frank Spencer from that old show “Some mothers do have em.”
