Recently I was lucky enough to be selected to review the Kenwood MultiPro Go food processor courtesy the MOMs website. I was thrilled. It was my first food processor and for years I’d been storing up recipes and things to try – from nut paste, to shredded coleslaws; neatly chopped cabbage, to thinly sliced veggies for oven chips and cauliflower rice.
I gathered that the thing about this food processor was that it was nice and compact, light, easy to store, wash and didn’t take up too much space if you wanted to leave it plugged in on the counter. It was smaller than others but this is not a problem since a chute attachment allows you to fill larger containers from the device without having to stop and empty the bowl. The size is actually perfect for most things I do.
I was a little overwhelmed opening the box because I’d never had anything like it – but things were simple enough – and within a few days I’d totally grasped what I could do with it. There was
1) a blade for mincing things very small – you just put the veggies, or whatever in the bowl with the blade and press the button! I made my first starch free museli with this putting in nuts, dried fruit, seeds etc. It munch it up wonderfully! I also made some cauliflower rice with fresh cauliflower, garlic and some onions all minced together wonderfully. A great starch free alternative to accompany dishes where I’d normally have rice.
2) There was a double sided plate that grated one side and sliced the other. You fed in items for this and there was a piece of plastic that enabled you to push the veggies through and which also sealed the device as it processed; I used it for all sorts of things experimenting with fresh spinach (that was minced to the fineness of the frozen spinach), carrots and cabbage and zuchinni. My favoute is cabbage. it shreds so fine that I will be able to make ferments just like the store products! The slicer cut zuchinni really thin and sped up cooking. I will have to try some oven veggie chips with this!
3) There was a separate bowl with a chute that was used with the slicer/grater allowing you to fill larger containers. I don’t have too much need for this but did try it out!
I still have more recipes to try! I gather you can even knead dough with it! I want to try hummus from chickpeas, and make zuchinni patties next time I shred some zuchinni; and nut paste. What do you make with your processor?
Having trialled the food processor I had to post a few reviews, share some pictures and a video. It was quite straightforward. I still can’t believe that I’ve had the opportunity to try this out and am genuinely pleased with the experience. I gather it retails at about $130 and think this is a fair price. There are a few things it doesn’t do – like have different size shredding / grating discs and the slicer on the other side of the disc is, of course, also a one-size thing. But overall it’s a very nice product!
