Hello!

2 years ago we were lucky to welcome our little girl into the world (which I must admit was great seeing that we already had 2 boys). Unfortunately at 3 days old she was rushed to the Royal Childrens Hospital to undergo an emergency platelet transfusion. We were told that you have to have a minimum of 150 platelets in your system and she had less than 3. At this point we were told that she was also having scans to see if there was any internal bleeding and that we should be aware that in her condition it was highly likely….when the test results came back the dr couldn’t believe it…..she had none :)

For the week she was in the Neonatal unit until they were satified that all was going well and we could go home. It turned out that at birth my body sent over anti bodies which attacked her system. This was because my platelet DNA was AA and she was born AB. For 3 months she underwent regular blood tests to check her platelet levels and they all came back positive. Now 2 years on we have an extremely happy, cheaky, beautiful 2 yr old with her whole life ahead of her with no delays or issues. She is one lucky little lady :)
