I made a conscious decision may years ago to parent in a different style than my parents. It can be hard to break the chain, but it is well worth it to parent in different style that suits you and your family.

Yep, my parents did the best they could but there are definitely things I don’t do.

Well done . I wouldn’t copy my parents as they had no one to teach them as they came from a very poverty strickened country and there was nil or low education in those times and generation . Good you chose your own way of doing things and you wouldn’t do it if you think it wasn’t right .

  Glad to hear that you have a different style too. Initially I was criticised, but now receive praise, not that I want or need it in anyway. We parent the way we want too, in a manner which nurtures and encourages and builds confidence.
