I cannot believe that after destroying countless lives this man gets a slap on the wrist of 5 years and is eligible for parole in half of that time. What a disgrace that is. Who cares about his age and declining health- he certainly didn’t care about the mental health of his victims. Let’s face it his wife and daughter probably stood by him because they know the victims will want the due monetary compensation they deserve and they will be trying to guard their millions. I hope I never have to do jury duty because I will not bow before the coat of arms, as I no longer believe the law to be just to victims. Australia is based on an archaic form of English law, and it’s overdue for an overhaul.

  • I think the justice system in this country is one big joke. Do not ever go to mediation ! It is a crock of Sh …..t. VERY UNFAIR . totally UNJUST FROM OUR EXPERIENCE with it. It has totally destroyed one side of our family all because of a will. Both solicitors said it was valid and straight forward however it was contested by a family member and through hostile mediation he obtained something he was not entitled to. I know this because the person who wrote the will told me personally that the piece of property would be my hubby’s and mine when she passed and I WOULD FINALLY HAVE A LOVELY LEMON TREE THAT I could never grow myself. Well I never got my lemon tree. Such is life. Hubby and I WERE GOING TO SELL THAT BLOCK OF LAND AND HELP OUR KIDS PAY MONEY OFF their mortgages. That did not happen because of a very selfish person. This person even rang one of my lovely daughters and tried to tell her what a bad person her father was. . Such is life! I feel better now I HAVE GOT THAT OFF MY CHEST.. I agree Rolf Harris is getting off lightly. That is not right either.!

  • All true, if he actually did it all. I sometimes think people prey on the rich and famous in the hope of monetary gain or 5 minutes of fame. It’s terrible for the victims if it’s true,ms hocking for Rolf if it’s not

  • I know many of you will disagree with me on this but…….
How can you be really sure he done this, like why would you wait all of these years to finally come out and say something surely you would of said something its not like hes been done for actually having sex with any of them that i can understand not saying something but for touching your arse or breasts hmm not sure ??
Im just not sure if these woman just decided to get on the band wagon with all the other celebrities that were being done in the UK for the same thing hey i maybe be wrong and he deserves all that he gets im just not 100% sure.

    • I don’t think you fully grasp how victims think and feel when these violations happen to them, having a read of the transcripts that were posted online might give you an insight into why so many years passed before his victims came forward and also why so many people that should have come forward sooner – didn’t (I mean the witnesses to some of his irksome behaviour).

  • Just goes to show what money and time can do for people. The justice has not been served in this case

  • I agree. What a disgrace. I think his “fortune” should be used to set up a foundation for sexually abused young people. He wouldn’t have been able to live the life of privilege he has if it was known what a predator he was. His family shouldn’t be able to enjoy his gains earned while being such a fraud.

  • Rolf harris is a disgrace he deserves longer behind bars.

    • Definitely. People who do less harmful crimes are often given bigger sentences than what that awful man did. I’m sickened to the core. He has shown no remorse.

      • I agree with you; absolutely sickening.

  • The law is often inadequate for victims (of any crime), but at least it is some vindication.

  • I’m also appalled at his short sentencing-definitely not long enough!

  • Quite possibly he will be serving more time than expected. The British Attorney General has been asked to look into the prison sentence and more victims are coming forward.

The Judge could only go by the law at the time when Harris committed the offences, the punishment has increased since then. Yes, it still doesn’t seem like he received enough jail time, however, what amount would.

I’m pleased he is being stripped of his awards, honours and his artwork is being taken from display, I image it will only be a matter of days before the Order of Australia award will also be taken from him.

This matter is far from over.
