Some of you may have been following my story regarding my pregnancy and its complications. Well our baby has arrived… Miss Franca Eloise Grosse arrived on the 5th of April 2016 via planned C – Section at 8.40am weighing 3.63kgs (8 pounds) & 50cms long. She was delivered at 37 weeks & 3 days gestation. Photos in the comments. I am recovering well.

  • Just an update. Franca will be 4 weeks old tomorrow. Can’t believe how time has flown. She is doing well. Lacking sleep at night so trying some methods to establish a good sleep habit and yes apparently possible to get babied into a habit from this age on.

  • Hi! So glad to hear your little one arrived safely. You might remember that a few months ago we exchanged some tips about what to pack in the hospital bag as I was due just before you. Well we welcomed Miss Amelia Kathleen on the 9th of March (also planned C – Section but at 38 + 3 weeks). She was a teeny weeny 2.65 kgs & 49cms long but she is feeding really well and is now 4 kg at 6 weeks. I have no doubt you are absolutely loving your time with little Franca!

    • Awesome. I do remember. Congratulations on the arrival of Miss Amelia Kathleen. It sounds like she is doing really well. How are you recovering from your C – Section? I didn’t have any loss until Friday just gone then I flooded through 3 pads, 3 pairs of knickers and 3 pairs of pants, has settled now but am sore. My Sister in Law who is a nurse thinks that as I had a C – Section that I didn’t lose my plug until Friday and my Uterus is finally contracting back to normal size.
I hope that you are getting rest as much as you possibly can and your beautiful girl is an amazing blessing in your lives.

      • Sorry if TMI… I had pretty steady blood loss (like a period) for the first week and a bit after surgery. Then it stopped suddenly. My MHN said that it may start up again and lo and behold a few days later I was bleeding so heavily I thought something was seriously wrong (sounds similar to the type of bleeding you had). Then it was steady but very light bleeding up until 5 weeks post surgery. It goes to show we are all different!
The hardest part of the recovery was not being able to pick up my 2 year old for a few weeks and he has of course wanted more attention than usual). I had my 6 week check last week and all is good.
Rest wise Amelia has been pretty good, generally only one overnight feed which is fabulous because with a 2 year old running around I don’t have a chance to get much rest during the day!
It is all absolutely worth it. Our little angel is just beautiful and indeed a blessing.

      • I am glad all is going well and definitely a blessing to have one overnight feed. I am hoping in a few weeks our Little Miss will do the same.
It definitely sounds like we had similar issues with the bleeds. Glad yours is resolving itself.
It takes a while for the household to adjust to a new child. My husband and I have a 9 year old, 11 year old and a 13 year old. The 11 year old and 9 year old are still trying to work things out. I can imagine it is much harder for a 2 year old. Keep up the good work Mumma.

      • Congratulations to you too, Rachelvk!!

  • Hi! How is it going with your little one? :-)

    • Hi.
She is two weeks old now. Time has flown. We are settling in to home life. She is a bit colicky/windy but generally easy to settle. At this point in time still breastfeeding and will continue to do so as long as possible. So much love in her life.

      • I’m so glad to hear that. Already 2 weeks old! I hope you will be able to continue breastfeeding her. And what about your older child? Happy about having a new sister?

      • Thankyou. Yes I hope to continue to breastfeed as long as I can, she likes it but we are not sure if she has issues with the milk because she has gut issues. My son absolutely adores her and so do my husband’s sons. Just taking it one day at a time.

      • That’s the best way to go. I hope your daughter’s gut issue won’t interfere with her ability to breastfeed. I wish you all the best with everything. Bye!!

Are the both of you doing well?
Franca… a very nice name. And quite unusual here in Australia. I have one aunt called Franca and one uncle called Franco, but they both live in Italy.

I thought you had planned to have the baby next week. Are you still in hospital?

Take care and give a big hug to your daughter from me! :-)
