My husband & I had agreed on me going back to my permanent full time position at work when our first daughter turned 8 months as we didn’t want her in child care. I wasn’t sure how he would go playing mum. The first week was sort of all over the place & I was thinking it was not going to work. After the first 2-3 weeks I came home after my 9 hour shift & I was so impressed. Washing had been done, tea was cooked, house was clean & bubs was happy as ever. I thought to myself that he was doing a better job than I had been, but I wasn’t going to tell him that. This continued for 2 & a half years. Who says dads can’t play mum, I love him to bits

  • What a brave dad to even consider this! So many dads shy away from being Mr Mum. And how wonderful is he to be doing it all so well? Congrats to you both for achieving it

  • my husband had to look after our daughter when she was born as I had a back injury and struggled to lift her – he did a great job and now we’re planning to both go back to work part time and share the responsibilities

  • Your very lucky! Its still uncommon to hear about a stay at home dad. Hats off to him if he can do a good job of it too!
