Hello!

In September last year, I made one decision that allowed me to fully take control of my money. I’ve never been in a better financial situation and I can see my home loan coming down every month!
What is this magical thing I did? I hear you asking… Well it’s very simple and the tip I can give you is:

CUT UP ALL YOUR CREDIT CARDS!

‘I need to buy things online’ is NOT a valid excuse!
There are such things as PayPal, bpay and debit MasterCards!
When using REAL money, you have a sense of how much you are spending and how much you have. Everything comes into perspective and you don’t over spend on things you don’t really need!

Go on! Give it a try and see how you go!
Good luck!

  • Its true that its easier to spend on card than handing over cash. I still use my card, but think twice before buying. It all adds up and sometimes we just don’t need all “the stuff”.

  • Mine are all cut up, just working at paying them off now.

  • My husband and I did this 5 years ago and have never looked back. There is no more overspending, our homeloan reducing and we put money away every week. We decided that we pay ourselves first every week (money into a savings account), it really has worked. So I know exactly what you are talking about, it is the best thing we ever did. We still buy things online but yes, we now have a Debit Mastercard. We are a lot better off now than 5 years ago.

  • what great advice!! Interest on credit cards is a massive killer aswell! I am in the process of paying mine off and once I have I will be getting rid of it, they are nothing but trouble
