Yesterday I caught up with two of my closest friends for lunch. One I have been friends with since grade 2 and one since Year 7. We have grown up together, spent some time apart in our late teens and early twenties when we were all busy with setting our lives in order and only caught up occasionally.
These days, we catch up every one or two months and just feel like we only saw each other the day before. We know each other, and we just click. We have eight children between us of all different ages, and can compare, complain and gloat all without judgement or feeling that we have to watch what we say.
We are all married, in similar circumstances, and really value each other. I feel really lucky to have these real, down-to-earth friends in my life, who I know I can turn to at any time. I know they feel the same.
