Hello!

its taken time, a lot of effort and a lot of money (hence the time) but the garden vegetable plots are finally underway and going great again. We lost everything we had planted (around $100 worth of plants and seedlings) during the summer heat wave (4 days over 40 in Vic) everything just crisped up and died.

now we have 2 of the 4 plots going again, and they are blooming, cant wait to be harvesting the spinach, cabbage, broc and cauli, got plans on getting more in, just got to work out where to trim the budget, to include a couple of punnetts of seedlings

  • that heat wave we had this summer was a killer, a lot of gardens ended up dead instead of productive, lets hope to a more productive summer this year with no heatwaves, just nice weather

  • we get very hot spells in adelaide so i found investing in some shade cloth has been great for us it keeps the real midday hot sun off the plants and then i just pull it back towards the end of the day, its great

  • There has been some great autumn weather here in Vic for our gardens to flourish the last week or so. I looked out my kitchen window and it never fails to make me feel a sense of achievement to see my little patch growing nicely.

  • I’m in Vic and I totally agree. I have a winter crop in and it seems to be favourable so far. Let’s keep our fingers crossed :)

  • The way you’re going I think you’ll be supplying all your family & friends this season with fresh organic vegies. Well done!

  • Sounds like you will have plenty of supply. I did the summer plants as well and all got burnt, I also found that because the heat arrived late that they did not grow as much either.
