After trying for months to conceive bub #2 its finally happened!!

Our journey to have a family has been very much a rollercoaster from the beginning. My hubby and I married march 2011 and as we were in our mid 30’s we decided we wanted to start a family straight away. As luck would have a few weeks later we were pregnant!! We were thrilled and told everyone that we were expecting straight away and started the all the planning!

Our world came tumbling down at 10 weeks when we went off to our first ultrasound with my OB, who gave us the heartbreaking news that there was no heart beat and that our baby died at about 7 weeks! I had had no symptoms at all of the miscarriage or of morning sickness and was in complete shock. I had a D&C the next day, 6 weeks later at our check up appointment we were dealt a further blow with the test results from the miscarriage coming back as a partial molar pregnancy. This meant that we had to further delay starting a family by 6 months as I had to have monthly blood tests to ensure that the partial molar pregnancy wouldn’t return.

4 or 5 day after getting the all clear to start trying again to start a family we conceived our daughter. In some ways it was a stressful pregnancy, especially those first few weeks till our ultrasound at 8 weeks as once again I had absolutely no morning sickness. Once I could feel bub moving things settled down and I was a little less stressed. The first two trimesters were pretty much plain sailing but I hit 28 weeks and everything started going pear shaped with the diagnosis of Pregnancy Induced Hypertension (PIH). So pretty much my 3rd trimester was spent being in and out of hospital, I ended up on medication to try and control the hypertension but in the end it was starting to not hold. Thankfully, at 3 weeks early my daughter decided she was done cooking and she was coming out! I will never forget that first moment when they placed her on my belly and she looked up at me.

Fast forward 7 months to Feb 2013, we decided that as we weren’t young we would start trying to add to our family. Both our first 2 pregnancies we fell first month we tried and so when it didn’t happen straight I was devastated and started thinking it would neve happen. In May we started using OPK’s to pinpoint ovulation and 2nd June we had a very faint positive HPT but unfortunately later that afternoon I started to get bad cramps and stated bleeding heavily I took another HPT a few days later,…negative we lost another bub.

It took a bit but we picked ourselves and on 1st July we got a strong positive, so we are 5 weeks pregnant currently. Fingers crossed we have a sticky bub onboard and that in March we will be welcoming our next bub!
