Hello!

I just thought I’d write little piece as I lay here on the sand at a nearby beach.
(Hold that thought! A unleashed dog just ran past!)
Pant pant pant – and that’s just me! *Slightly freaking out*
Ok… I think I can continue… Now where was I? Oh yes… The simple things!
I know that I have a tendency to sweat the small stuff, let my thoughts get the better of me, be happy one minute and anxious about something the next. But it’s times like these when I’m laying at my favourite place (any quiet beach) or taking a stroll in a park surrounded by trees with lush foliage, that I feel the most grounded. I get redirected back to the present moment and my mind calms. This activity isn’t hard to come by or expensive. You don’t need to book it in and wait weeks or months for it. It’s free. It’s accessible to all of us… It’s simple and can do wonders for yourself.
I think sometimes we forget about the simple things. Once upon a time I wasn’t even allowed to access them! Yep… A overbearing controlling ex partner wouldn’t even allow me to head to the beach without him or wear skimpy bikinis. To choose not to enjoy the simple things in life and appreciate them and what they provide robs the soul, but to prevent another by taking away their freedom to do so is just shameful.
I am so appreciative of my now freedom, which I enjoy while in a beautiful relationship with a wonderful man.
I just wanted I write this story to remind everyone that we need to make the most of our days, enjoy all the beautiful things in life, especially the simple things. And if someone is holding you back, recognise it so you can change it! And to anyone that is holding someone back, please don’t. They will love you endlessly for it.

  • Ahhh the beach!! the times when I need some time out, I sit back, close my eyes and think I am on the beach. Nice sunny day, lovely steady waves crashing on the shore. The sand glistening in the sun. With a nice cool breeze blowing =)

  • It is a wonderful feeling! Almost childlike without a care in the world. Even adults should learn to stop & smell the roses!

    • Absolutely! I agree; as time passes to quickly!

  • I agree; I love the simple thing of getting away from it all and turning off all technology; freedom from distractions and interruptions; I always choose a holiday location which does not get mobile reception or WiFi. We have to be present in the moment.

  • It is the simple things, like watching the clouds or reading a good book.
