So a friend of mine got a thermo mix and made the playdough recipe….amazing! Best playdough I have come across in a long time. Thinking I may need to go get a thermo mix now!

  • Yes the thermomix playdough is awesome. And incidently – I made some for my daughter’s 3rd birthday party – she is now 5.5 years old and it’s still going strong. We just store it in a sealed bag in the fridge after play.

  • Its so much fun testing recipes

    • ngredients

320g water (boiling hot from jug)
      100g cooking salt
      1 tablespoon cream of tartar
      280g plain flour
      15g coconut oil
      Food colouring to suit
*Depending on brands of ingredients used you may need to add more flour.
      Method

Put Salt in TM bowl and mill Speed 9, 3 seconds. Depending on the brand of salt you use you may need a little longer – you want it to look like a fine powder.
Put cream of tartar in and then add water. Heat for 3 minutes at 60 degrees on Speed 3.
Once finished, look to make sure that all your salt has been dissolved, give a little stir with the spatula and heat for a further 2 minutes at 60 degrees on Speed 3.
Add flour and mix for 20 – 40 seconds or until well combined on Speed 3.
Add coconut oil, set dial to closed lid. Interval Speed 1 – 2 minutes – you are looking for small pebble like consistency.
I then like to add food colouring in a separate bowl and knead together as I find if I knead in the Thermomix it dries out too quickly – that being said wear some disposable gloves if you don’t want rainbow hands!
Once kneaded to colour consistency you want, I tend to wrap mine in baking paper and then pop in a zip lock bag until delivery – where his Mum has a couple of playdough pots to put them in.

  • Ive just ordered my Thermomix and cant wait for it to arrive.
I have a Bellini which is kind of like a Thermomix just a lot cheaper $399 but go on special all the time.
You get them from Target you can also make the same play dough in that to.

  • Sounds great but around $2k to purchase, it makes for expensive play dough.

    • haha yes it certainly does! Probaby not the main reason to purchase a thermomix.
      But plenty of other benefits!
