Hey MoMs,
I have two toddlers (Irish twins) who are 10.5 months apart. They are now aged 3 and 4. However, over the last year i have had nothing but trouble with sleep time. Their at the stage where they think they no longer need a nap so some days they may go down after lunch for about 45mins to an hour and other days i’m lucky if i can get them to sit down. The problem is…they are early wakers…usually between 5-6am but even if they don’t have a nap they REFUSE to go to sleep till late. Sometimes as late as 11pm at night. And by that time mummy is dead tired and over it. I’ve tried everything! From changing what they eat to buying a sleep trainer clock and always trying to stick with a strict routine….however none of it seems to work. Help?

  • My daughter is having the same problem with her two year old. No nap, late to bed, grumpy and kicking. She has taken to a daily stroll which seems to tire her out enough to have a nap.

  • I found when my boys were toddlers was to quieten them down before bedtime with either reading books or just talking to them with only soft lighting worked. Settling over excited toddlers never worked nor eating or drinking before bedtime.

  • I agree with the two previous posts. Set the bedtime and stick to it. It’ll take a few days/weeks but if you are strict it will happen. The day sleeps they may be too old for.

  • I always told the kids they had to go to bed but didn’t have to go to sleep and if they picked not to sleep they were allowed to lay in bed with books and then when you checked they would be out like a light book open, and they thought they won :)
