i was quite upset with ALDI today… I went in to buy a peppa pig quilt cover set, and they had sold out already! they only came out yesterday…
the area where they had been before selling out was the smallest area, so they obviously didnt even stock that many before they sold them!
i dont think it is very fair to advertise a product for it not to be there when people go to purchase it.. they should have enough in stock to cater for the demands of people wanting it
so upset =(
not the first time it has happened either

  • It would be upsetting. I guess maybe the store thought it wouldn’t be popular, or maybe it was the end of line stuff, that’s why they didn’t have many in stock. Did you try putting a raincheck on it? Sometimes stores do this for customers who miss out on sale items

  • sale items !!…this happens all the time..everywhere

  • I have been told that I have to be there first thing in that morning otherwise I won’t get them. And it was true few time I went in around 10.30 – 11 am and they were all gone!

  • We have had similar problems with Aldis sale items.

  • yep it is very typical though, first one in gets the pepper pig covers

    • oh and also not every store has the catalogue items. they might only have a small amount of the product

  • Ring head office, or put a message on their facebook page, most big organisations hate social media, unfortunately the local store normally has little or no control over the amount of stock they get in, especially with the bait type sales, but I would let head office know that I am not happy, they may be able to source one for you.

  • Aldi sale items tend to sell like hotcakes!

  • I think they often only have a very small number of certain advertised products to get customers in the store, then hope they buy lots of other stuff while they are there (after they discover the item they wanted has already sold out!)

Definitely have to go first thing when they open on the sale start date if you really want something.

  • I’ve found that you have to be there first thing in the morning the day the sale starts or you just don’t get the sale items

  • I agree it`s a bit hit and miss with Aldi. It does leave you very disappointed when you had your heart set on a certain product. But unless you have the time to be there on the morning of the special, then other than trying or phoning the other near by Aldi stores, there isn’t much you can do, but cross your fingers.

  • Try ringing different stores. It’s often not the stores fault that they sell out (especially if they are a national brand store), as distribution of products is something that is sourced and divided by buyers in head office. A store 15 minutes away may have received 100 based on previous customer sales and your store may have received 10 based on their previous customer sales. I have often copped the brunt of a customers frustration for something that is out of my control :(

  • if you can maybe go to another ALDI’s?? and maybe not all there stock came in, or get there earlier??

  • Big W tends to do that too – I live in Canberra and once went in to buy something advertised in a catalog, and was told they’d only had one in the entire store. A $15 item. One for Canberra! Unfortunately it’s perfectly legal as long as they have at least some stock of whatever they’ve advertised, and it’s a way of getting you through the door. But I don’t bother with Aldi or Big W much anymore simply because they DO do this. Not worth the wasted effort.

    • Did you ask Big W for a raincheck? I don’t think Aldi give them but most of the major chains do if you miss out.

  • I have found this a bit with certain Aldi stores. The only people that seem to get the things they want are the people who wait outside on the first day of sale for the store to open. Some Aldi’s I have found better than others.

  • I just don’t find it fair that they don’t stock much of each item
Every other store does but they dont

  • Yep if there is something I really want I have to go on the first day or be prepared to miss out. They only special buy a certain number of things, somethings sell out other things are left and get reduced and unfortunately us or Aldi have know idea which item is going to get snapped up. Best of luck with other stores if you can visit a different one or so.
