My son is my world. I work full time to pay rent, bills etc as we cant do it on just my partners wage.

Work makes me feel guilty for having time off when looking after my son.

kinder mums make me feel guilty for having my son in full time care.

are school mums nicer? do they understand that not everyone can be a stay at home mom?

My son is 4 and he understands better than half the moms “mom and dad work to pay to live in house and have power” is a 4 year old gets it. how weird is it that other parents dont?

  • I have done both – I stayed home with my first son for 2 1/2 years before returning to work, worked from when my daughter was 8 months old 4 days a week and I worked when my youngest son turned 10 months. As he got a bit older I actually decided to leave work for now so I could be home with them particularly with my daughter starting school. We struggle with money going from two incomes to one but myself and the kids just couldn’t cope emotionally or physically with me not being home. As a mum staying at home now I sometimes feel guilty that I am not out earning money to support my family and miss working. To compromise I am studying. I think no matter what you do with/for your kids there is always a certain amount of guilt about whether you are doing the right thing or not.

  • I have done both. I went back to work with my youngest when he was 3 months old and he went into morning and after school care when he started school all the way to grade 5. My second child I stayed at home with but have worked every now and again. I did not really get negative comments with either way but maybe some people have nothing better to do or maybe they wish they had the chance or the opportunity. Most mums that stay home are always looking for work from home jobs. They will eventually get it but the ones that don’t, I would just ignore them.
