Hello!

I recently applied, for a postion through an agency after being informed that I would be called, for an interview in the next few days I was getting excited feeling confident that it could be a fantastic opportunity. After not hearing back for four days I could to see what was going on the gentlemen informed me I would be the first person on the list to get a call. I did get the call and the lovely lady on the phone said I had the job ( I think she was under the pump with work and I have the experience.) So I was informed I would be starting in ten days and should of had the paper work within five. The paper work hasnt arrived and they informed me on the 5th day to have my paper work ready. (tax file etc) Its now monday and I’m suppossed to start in two or three days I dont wont to ring and bother them as I know they are busy and I am trying to be patient. I still have to tell my current employee that I’m going to a new job. It might be just job nerves and it seems secure, but I havnt had an interview and I’m nervous starting a new postition. I’ve got alot riding on this I’ve gone and bought new clothes which I needed anyway, but I just want to know for sure. Can on go on there word they did mention its not final until the paper work has been signed and I cannot start until then I suppose its a blessing having time to organise things, but why wouldnt they have sent paper work its up to them when I start I thought they wanted me as much as I wanted them??? What do you think mums????

  • A friend of mine had a bad experience with an agency . They initially told her she had a job and found out later she was the wrong person . It was absolutely so unprofessional and never trusted them again . You need everything in writing , otherwise it is not guaranteed . ( like everything else )

  • Just call and ask when you can expect the paperwork because you have to give notice. This is not pushy or bothering them when they are busy. This is professional and displays your eagerness to start. There is nothing to lose and a start date to be gained.

  • I would be ringing them and saying that you haven’t received the paperwork so maybe you could arrange to pick it up so you actually have it and can fill it out…

  • That sounds like such a frustrating and concerning situation. I think it may be best to follow up, preferably with some written form so that you can have it all in ‘writing’ should you need to file a complaint or suchlike with them giving you the run around. Good luck.

    • Whoops. Sorry just saw the date and your job status update- yay glad it worked out!

      • I like getting updates from previous posts.

  • I would definitely be calling them. You don’t have to make it sound like you’re hassling them, but mention the problem from the point of view that you don’t want it to cause any problems for them. If you say “Just thought I should let you know I haven’t received the paperwork yet, and I’m worried that it will cause problems for you if I’m not able to get it to you in time”, it shows that you’re thinking of them, not just yourself.

  • I think give them a call, but what has happened since?

  • Don’t resign from your other job! These people sound too disorganised. Their priority should be getting you sorted. You need to contact them.

  • I would be calling them for sure, i wouldnt leave it any longer as it could also show them that your not proactive, and if you have left this to the last minute would they really want someone like this working for them.
    Good luck
