Icy treats are a great way to keep the kids cool in Summer and making your own is healthy, delicious and easy.

What you’ll need:

  • Watermelon and kiwi fruit (or fruit of choice)
  • icy pole moulds
  • icy pole sticks

1. Puree watermelon

2. Pour watermelon into moulds and place in the freezer (don’t forget to put the sticks in!)

3. Puree kiwi fruit

4. Pour kiwi fruit on top of watermelon and then put back in the freezer

5. Once frozen, your icy poles are ready to eat

Watch the YouTube tutorial below for full instructions:

These look delicious and I am definitely going to make some for the kids this Summer. I am already dreaming up all the different combinations I can make.

  • Sometimes when I am making a juice or smoothie in the morning I freeze the leftovers into icy pole moulds. Delish and saving waste!

  • So easy to make. I love that you don’t need any sugary juice. And that the kiwi on the bottom makes it look like a slice of water melon

  • I hadn’t thought of Not adding cordial. Awesome, I add chunks of berries too which add a fun lolly feel.

  • I’m not a fan of kiwi fruit, but love the idea of watermelon icy poles. I’ve made mango icy poles and also mango with yoghurt icy poles. Both yummy.

  • Thanks Jessica. These two-toned ones look great. My fruit iceblocks are a hit with the kids. I\’ve used quite a variety over time. Pineapple, oranges, mandarin, strawberries, peaches – anything surplus on hand. My favourite is mango or for a naughtier version mango pureed with a little condensed milk.

  • Yum, a perfect recipe for the holidays and the heat!

  • You can also make them from pineapple or mango with coconut water or milk. In the photos above there appears to be watermelon seeds. You could use a variety of berries too.
Bananas – cut them up though. You can get a bad batch that are brown on the inside and they could make you really sick (I learnt the hard way) The bananas can look ok until you cut them.
