Hello!

This time of year is a tough one to try and stay fit & healthy – lots of parties, drinks, gatherings, holidays, food, drinks; you get where I am coming from.

So what can you do about it when you have over indulged? Indulging is going to be different for everyone. For example, having more than 2 wines is over indulging for me, having 4 squares of chocolate or more is too much.

With this in mind, comes a wonderful word that I am sure lots of you would love to do, but find it hard, not just in healthy living, but family, kids, work etc….balance.

We all need a bit of balance in our lives, which can include a nice night out, a few wines, dessert, eating a block of chocolate, whatever your indulgence of choice is.

Mine….wine and the odd chocolate, or dessert. Most of the time, they all happen together!

But in general, all the principals below are good advice for any over indulgence!

1)  Forget about it – what’s done is done

This is a big one. What is done is done. You can’t change the past. So you need to stop wallowing in self pity and wish you hadn’t done whatever and move on.

The guilt that will be flowing around your body is not worth it. You put too much pressure on yourself.

But the flip side of this is, next time you want to indulge, remember how you felt last time you did and maybe back off a bit, so that you don’t feel like that again!

You need to get some good hormones pumping around your body again so…to my next point…

2)  Exercise – do a workout

Yep, start moving. Go for a walk, a run, go to a bootcamp, do a Fit & Fab Online Mummy Bootcamp session. Whatever, just go and do it.

Give it 100%. Burn off some fat, sweat like crazy to get rid of any toxins and get those feel good endorphins pumping through your body.

You won’t regret it. I promise you will feel better.

3)  Rehydrate – water, coconut water

This one is important if you have over indulged on the alcohol. You need to rehydrate.

I tend to go for the coconut water and normal water. It might be the last thing you feel like drinking, but it’s the best thing for you. Do it!

4)  Sleep – haha

I know, it’s a tough one, but if you somehow get the chance to sleep, or even have a nap, it’s one of the best things you can do to regenerate your body.

Try and get to bed a bit earlier as often as you can.

5)  Fill your body with nutrients – get straight back into healthy eating

It’s alright to have cheat meals or treats every now and then – I usually recommend 1-2 cheat meals a week, if you actually want too.

But for the rest of the time, you need to fill your body with all the nutrients it needs.

And then after your cheat meal or your indulgence, you need to get straight back to eating clean, nutrient rich food.

Water & sleep. Then many kale, spinach, orange & celery smoothies the next day. Felt fabulous, even though I shouldn’t have haha
